Development Corporation of Snyder Gains Final Approval for the Acquisition of the Future Site of New Workforce Center
The Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) was recently granted final approval by Snyder City Council to acquire property to become the “Snyder Workforce Center.” The 17,000 sq. ft. building and one-acre campus will house the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Workforce Solutions, The SBA Small Business Development Center from Texas Tech University, and training facilities for Western Texas College’s workforce training programs.

“Workforce development is a critical and fundamental building block of Economic Development,” said Doug Dowler, Executive Director of DCOS.

Without a trained and readily available workforce, companies are forced to locate elsewhere or expand other existing facilities for their growth. The future Workforce Center will act as a training facility. It will be designated specifically for the education, training, and certification of Snyder’s workforce. The endeavor will benefit existing businesses, future Snyder businesses, and students for generations to come. DCOS is proud to sponsor this creative and impactful potential project.

While the business sector continues to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic, employers are experiencing shortages of educated, trained, and certified workers. A vast number of jobs are currently available throughout the region, waiting for workers to fill them. The new Workforce Center will draw from a 50-mile radius labor shed to provide a pipeline and supply of future qualified workforce. The project has the potential to develop a skilled workforce for Snyder, and in doing so will elevate Snyder as the premier site for companies to locate and expand.

The DCOS is committed to seeing the project through to completion. They envision a partnership that will create the opportunity of providing a future pool of qualified, educated, and certified workforce through the Snyder Workforce Center.
