RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Rancho Cucamonga City Council District 2 candidate David VanGorden says his decision to run for office did not begin with politics. It began with conversations.

Over the past several years, VanGorden has spoken with residents throughout Rancho Cucamonga and repeatedly heard the same concerns: rising traffic congestion, increasing homelessness, public safety challenges, overdevelopment, and questions about whether infrastructure is keeping pace with growth.

Those conversations ultimately led him to seek a seat on the City Council.

“I am running because I believe residents deserve a stronger voice in the decisions that affect their daily lives,” VanGorden said. “The people who live here should never feel disconnected from the decisions being made on their behalf.”

A retired law enforcement professional with more than 30 years of public service experience, VanGorden says he understands the importance of accountability, transparency, and listening to the community before making decisions.

According to VanGorden, one of the most common concerns raised by residents is the pace of development occurring throughout the city.

“Growth is not necessarily a bad thing,” he said. “But growth without infrastructure is not progress. Roads, public safety resources, water capacity, and city services must keep pace with development if we want to preserve the quality of life that attracted families to Rancho Cucamonga in the first place.”

VanGorden says he also hears frequent concerns about crime and homelessness.

“Residents want safe neighborhoods,” he said. “They want to know that public safety remains a priority and that practical solutions are being pursued to address homelessness while maintaining compassion and accountability.”

Beyond individual issues, VanGorden says his campaign is focused on restoring trust and accessibility between residents and elected officials.

“Too often, people feel they only see politicians during election season,” he said. “I believe elected officials should remain visible, approachable, and available after Election Day. Public service should never come with barriers between residents and the people they elect.”

VanGorden has pledged to maintain an open-door approach to government and encourages residents to contact him directly with questions, concerns, and ideas.

“My campaign is not built around promises,” he said. “It is built around listening. The best solutions come from the people who live and work in our community every day.”

As the campaign continues, VanGorden plans to highlight several key topics raised by residents, including infrastructure, public safety, responsible growth, homelessness, transparency in government, and preserving the character of Rancho Cucamonga for future generations.

“At the end of the day, this campaign is not about me,” VanGorden said. “It is about the future of Rancho Cucamonga and making sure residents have a representative who listens, communicates, and puts the community first.”

David VanGorden is a candidate for Rancho Cucamonga City Council District 2. Additional information about his campaign, priorities, and community outreach efforts can be found at www.vangordenforrancho.com.
